Join Holocaust Museum LA in welcoming Dr. Keren E. Fraiman for a conversation on the importance of Israel education, speaking about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and finding nuanced and sophisticated ways to connect to and learn about Israel with children of all ages – especially in this difficult moment.
This session will highlight the opportunities and challenges of having these conversations and will introduce ways to engage effectively.
Dr. Fraiman's research focuses on Israel and conflict education and addressing the complexities associated with teaching about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Currently, Dr. Fraiman is Spertus Institute’s Dean and Chief Academic Officer and its Professor of Israel Studies. In addition, she serves on the faculty of the iCenter’s iFellows Masters Concentration in Israel Education program, Hillel International’s MasterClass Israel, and The Wexner Heritage Fellowship, and also works with many Jewish communal and educational institutions nationwide.
In January 2020, Dr. Fraiman was selected for the prestigious Wexner Field Fellowship, presented by the Wexner Foundation in partnership with the Jim Joseph Foundation.
She earned her PhD in International Relations and Security Studies from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and her BA in Political Science and Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations from The University of Chicago. Her work has been supported by the US Institute of Peace, the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism, and the Chicago Project on Security and Terrorism.
